Bolt IoT launches integrated IoT platform for machine learning

Internet of Things (IoT) startup ‘Bolt IoT’, with its base in Bengaluru, India and Dallas, Texas has launched what it claims to be “the most affordable IoT platform” for developers.

The company said the new platform comes fully packed with Cloud, smartphone app and hardware module.

The trouble for developers and makers with building IoT products or projects is that it sometimes, it seems like a puzzle when they need to hunt and find the tools they need to put a project in place. Tools such as the hardware module to connect the ‘Things’ to, the Cloud to collect the data, a smartphone app to remotely control the appliances or to manage all the devices on the go.

To solve this problem, the startup released the Bolt Internet of Things platform which lets any maker build projects 10 times faster and reduces code complexity to about 80 per cent with their inbuilt tools and functions, claimed the company. The Platform has been recognised for its innovative processes through the awards it has received, such as the Economic Times – Power of Ideas, DST-Lockheed Martin – IIGP, Your Story – Tech Sparks.

Founders Pranav Pai Vernekar and Pranav Kundaikar each have 6 years of experience in the field of IoT before they started up Bolt IoT. They have been strategic consultants for Fortune 500 companies, where they have trained them on how to leverage IoT in their products and services.

Last year, Bolt IoT raised a funding of US $500,000 and since then, the team has grown to 15 members. They now want to bring their experience of building scalable IoT products to the developer and maker community.

Says Pranav Pai Vernekar, “The Bolt Platform has grown very popular among Large Enterprise companies which are finding its application in data collection from both users and machines as well as in control of certain environmental parameters. The Power of the platform lies in its cloud, the cloud comes packed with tools such as the GUI based configurator, an Online code editor and is fully loaded with options for data visualisation, Machine Learning, e-mail and SMS notifications, and remote operation of connected devices. All of this takes product development to a lightning speed.”

One of the most important features of Bolt is the ease of deploying machine learning (ML) algorithms. The Bolt API’s easily let you run ML algorithms on the data collected by your sensors. It comes with easy to use machine learning libraries that make ML a child’s play. You can quickly build a system to study the data of your temperature sensors & switch on the AC a few minutes before the temperature goes too high. You can also connect Bolt to home appliances like your washing machine to detect any anomalies in the motor vibrations. The system will automatically alert you via SMS & e-mail.
