Internet of Things market in India to grow at 41 per cent by 2020: Report

There has been an increased adoption in India and the market is expected to grow at 41 per cent CAGR by 2020, according to a report by Dentsu Aegis Network’s digital and social media agency, WATConsult. The major share of the adoption is from the Industrial IoT (IIOT) segment, while that for the consumer IoT (CIoT) segment is slow as the awareness among the consumers is gaining momentum gradually, said the report.

Manufacturing and smart cities / public utilities are the sectors investing heavily in IIoT. Healthcare and Agriculture are two big sectors where IoT can really be the catalyst for change especially rural healthcare. Logistics, Automotive and Retail are the other segments where IIoT is being deployed to improve the operational efficiency.

Internet enabled TV are the most used CIoT device followed by smartwatches and health / fitness bands. These wearables also have the highest intention to purchase and are seeing immediate adoption among consumers.
