Here’s an intelligent garbage collection system that tells you when the bin is to be emptied

Image your garbage container “telling” you when it has to be emptied! This Internet of Things product is targeted at municipal corporations and private waste management companies.

ONe Collect is positioned as a “web-based waste container monitoring and advanced forecasting system for the waste collection fleets.” What it has are smart wireless waste sensors installed in the waste containers that then send data to a data analytics backend. The system then calculates optimised collection schedules and routes based on real-time data sent by the waste sensors in each container. Basically, it is a system of intelligent garbage bins. It’s maker, Enevo, a privately held company, says this new product brings down the costs by at least 40 per cent by utilising smart waste sensor which enable remote waste monitoring. Essentially, you always empty the waste containers exactly when needed, never wasting money on nearly empty containers.

Enevo had recently signed a new 3-year service agreements with Georos, a Helsinki based company specializing in soil production and transportation. The company will use the system to monitor sandsilos. Sandsilos are widely used in the Nordic countries to store sand for sanding icy roads and pavements.
