Millions of United Kingdom (UK) smart device users were vulnerable to hacking and privacy breaches.
A study by Online security firm BullGuard of 2,000 users in UK revealed that one in three were not aware of the possible security risks posed by poorly protected smart devices.

Users should check:
- Is the device password protected
- Can the default password and user name can be changed
- Does the device collect data from you and if so can opt out
- Is the device supported with security updates
