IoT communications platform Startup Neura gets US $2 mln funding

NeuraWill humans take the time out to tweak all the gadgets and devices in a manner so that they start “talking” to each other? Addressing this and some other issues related to the Internet of Things (IoT) and Machine-to-Machine (M2M) devices and solutions is startup company Neura. It has now got US $2 million as funding to help it develop easy solutions to make wearable and other “connected” devices talk to each other.

Born in January last year, Neura is now officially part of the IoT brigade. The seed funding was led by Sausalito, California, USA located Greenhouse Capital Partners.

Neura claims on its website that it “takes a user centric approach to the internet of things, making the devices around us cognizant of the users they serve.” By recognising habits, and behavioural patterns, Neura strives to enable things with predictive and adaptive abilities, making digital experiences more human.

The startup has three layers of technology starting with data normalization called Harmony, followed by Trac, a rules engine, and topped by  and the Physical Graph. Harmony is to essentially build device profiles and make the data each device gathers fit into a specific profile.

The next layer, Trac, will allow users set conditional rules, eventually evolving into a pattern recognition engine that will then suggest rules to the end user based on their habits and devices.

The physical graph means a database of contextual elements that will influence and inform the rules engine.
