IBM launches foundation for connecting devices to IoT, developing mobile apps

IBMfoundationIBM recently announced the launch of IBM Internet of Things Foundation (IoT Foundation) which is a fully managed, Cloud-hosted service designed to simplify and derive value from your IoT devices.

The service provides developers with a set of application programming interfaces (APIs) to simplify the process of accessing data from Internet-connected devices.

Among the many things that the Foundation allows you to do is compose analytics applications, visualisation dashboards, and mobile IoT apps. Enterprises can create IoT applications that feed insights to their backend applications.  When combined with the IBM Bluemix platform, IoT Foundation provides simple, but powerful application access to IoT devices and data. Besides making mobile apps, it allows you to connect physical devices to the IoT from a menu of hardware such as ARM or that tiny computer, Raspberry Pi.

The IoT Foundation is available through Bluemix and the IBM Marketplace, and you can even take it for a 30-day free trial.
