Oracle, Maharashtra sign MoU on smart city

Tech major Oracle has chosen Maharashtra in western India for the Indian Government’s Smart City project to accelerate the province’s digital transformation and also set up a Centre for Excellence there.

Oracle Global Chief Executive Officer Safra Catz signed a pact with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on the sidelines of the onging Oracle OpenWorld conference here. According to the MoU, Oracle will create a Cloud-based CoE to help accelerate Maharashtra’s ‘Smart City’ programme and modernise technology solutions. If successful, it will be likely replicated across the country.

Oracle recently set up nine incubation centers in the country, a massive campus in Bengalaru and launched an annual training initiative for 500,000 students.
